Aldine ISD Chooses Ramtech’s Modular Buildings During Cafeteria Renovations
Ramtech has continued to build on its success in the public school sector by securing a new $1.9 million contract to provide four new modular cafeteria buildings to the Aldine Independent School District in Houston, Texas. Totaling 41,216 square feet, two modular buildings will be installed at both Nimitz and MacArthur High Schools for use as interim facilities while the renovation of the existing cafeterias takes place. Ramtech will begin the manufacturing phase of the modular construction project prior to the end of February, and will commence the site activities at the beginning of March. We expect to complete the project by April 12th, which will give Aldine ISD ample time to prepare the facilities to begin food service to their students by May 1st. (more…)

Ramtech Finishes Manufacturing and Installation of Modular Buildings for New 4-Story Barracks at Fort Sam Houston
This weekend Ramtech completed the manufacturing and installation of the modular buildings for the fifth and final phase of the MILCON Unaccompanied Enlisted Personnel Housing (UEPH) Advanced Individual Training (AIT) Barracks that will be used by the U.S. Army at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio,Texas. The project is part of a multiple task order under an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract that was previously awarded to the Southwest Division of Hensel Phelps Construction Co. in Austin, Texas. Ramtech was designated as a strategic subcontractor responsible for the manufacture and installation of 152 individual modular sections that are being assembled to create the four-story 272 room barracks that will total 116,480 square feet. Green Buildings Underperforming??
For the last several years, the Modular Building Institute (MBI) has attempted to address the inequalities of the International Green Construction Code when applied to small commercial construction projects, as these are the heart of the commercial modular industry. MBI promotes the fact that modular buildings are one of the best platforms for sustainable building construction today for the following reasons:
- Factory construction means greater waste diversion from landfills
- Factory controlled construction means greater use of recycling practices
- Off-site construction means less site disruption
- Ability of modular buildings to be relocated and repurposed means fewer buildings being demolished and ultimately less waste
As we have stated before, sustainable construction practices make sense when applied in scale to the overall project. Small projects bear an inordinate amount of costs to attain certain levels of sustainable construction when compared to large public and private sector work; however, there may be more to question when it comes to green construction. Limestone Shares Their Experience on Using Permanent Modular Construction
Ramtech recently went back to visit our first Accelerated Building System permanent modular construction project for the healthcare market located adjacent to the main hospital at Limestone Medical Center in the central Texas community of Groesbeck. We took along our video gear to record the thoughts and comments of Penny Gray, administrator and CEO at Limestone, as she reflected on how the 12,000 square foot modular building project was originally developed and what it was like to work with the Ramtech team.
The interview took place inside the rural modular medical clinic that provides accommodations for seven physicians and an optometrist, including 20 exam rooms, four procedure rooms, medical records area, offices and retail space.

A Hospital Turns to Ramtech for Permanent Modular Construction
When St. Joseph Regional Health Center decided they needed to add an urgent care facility in College Station, Texas, they chose Ramtech to become part of their project team, working with Ameritex Studio as their architect of record, and Vaughn Construction as their CM. The reason: Ramtech had a proprietary permanent modular building system that was superior to any modular system in the southwest, and Ramtech’s in-house design team was most qualified to provide a design assist engineering role. In order to lower cost, St. Joseph chose to utilize a design-build approach. This opened the door to Ramtech’s design team initiating programming sessions, conducting site investigations and developing a synergy with the client that carried forward throughout the project.
