Ramtech Moves to Start Production of Avalon ISD Permanent Modular Building
Ramtech has received the notice of acceptance from Avalon (TX) ISD for the lump sum proposal part of the design-build contact for the permanent modular construction of a 4,480 square foot classroom wing addition for the North-central Texas school district’s high school campus. (more…)

University of Texas at Dallas Adds Two Ramtech Modular Building Complexes for Bio and Mechanical Engineering Programs
Ramtech continued to build on our recent success in the public college and university market by securing a new $1.6 million contract to provide two new modular buildings that will be located on the main campus of the University of Texas at Dallas in Richardson, Texas. UTD will purchase the two 8,736 square foot facilities for $1.6 million and use them as temporary teaching labs in the University’s Bio and Mechanical Engineering Departments. Ramtech will begin installation of both buildings in June, and expects to complete the project by July 15, 2014. (more…)

Texas Department of Insurance Decision to Affect the Use of Portable Classrooms
There has been a decision by the Texas Department of Insurance that directly impacts the use of portable classrooms by school districts in the fourteen counties that make up the coastal bend in south Texas. This decision removes one of the most important aspects for using a portable classroom building, namely its ability to be portable and relocated economically. (more…)

Ramtech Wins MBI Awards of Distinction for West ISD Modular Buildings
Ramtech received a first place award in the Relocatable Modular Education Over 10,000 Square Feet category at the Modular Building Institute’s World of Modular annual convention and tradeshow held at the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort March 21-24 in San Antonio, Texas. Setting the Record Straight on Design-Build Modular Construction for Texas Schools
Why do school districts in Texas as well as many architectural firms believe that design-build is not a superior method of contracting for public school construction? The arguments often center on the schools not knowing the final cost of the project until it is completed; that many school projects come in over budget; and that the design-build team will lower the quality of the construction in order to meet the district’s budget. While this could be an issue with some common applications of design-build that other companies take, Ramtech has developed a vertically integrated permanent modular construction approach to design-build that eliminates these concerns while providing a less expensive school facility which can be completed faster than using the design-bid-build or construction manager delivery methods.
