Ramtech Modular Building Institute Awards of Distinction trophy for the relocatable modular building for the City of Clyde, TX police department

Ramtech received a first place Awards of Distinction trophy at the 41st annual Modular Building Institute 2024 World of Modular Conference and Tradeshow held March 18 – 2l at the Rosen Shingle Creek hotel and resort in Orlando, FL. Over 1,500 attendees gathered at the sold-out conference for networking opportunities and to hear speakers and presenters from across the world.

Ramtech received our first first-place award in the Relocatable Modular Correctional category for the 4,760 square foot police station and short-term holding facility we built and installed for the City of Clyde, TX. The facility was designed to replace an aging facility which could be easily relocated in the future if necessary. The relocatable modular building provides space for private offices for the chief of police and his support staff, a large training area for patrol officers, one intake and two interrogation rooms, and a patrol work room with an adjoining short-term holding area. It also contains large evidence and file storage areas, an I/T room, break room, armory, and shower and locker rooms.

The building finishes were selected for prioritizing security and resilience by using impact resistant gypsum on the interior walls and resilient tile flooring. The secure ceilings in the intake, interrogation, and holding rooms used painted gypsum wall board with acoustical lay-in tile in all of the other common areas. The exterior utilized a parapet wall design which combined ribbed steel panels with a masonry wainscot.

The police station was set and finished out while the new asphalt parking lot was concurrently poured and finished adjacent to the caliche building pad. The city’s key motivations for the project were the speed that modular construction provides along with the control of the direct and indirect costs which required shifting as many work scopes as possible to the manufacturing phase.

Ramtech modular building installation at Denver International Airport Concourse A Expansion

Ramtech began the installation in October of the 36 modular sections that will make up the 26,312 square foot modular building addition for Denver International Airport’s Concourse A East Groundload Phase II Terminal Expansion. The modular construction project is part of the second phase of an upgrade and expansion of the airport’s Concourse A commuter facility that will connect to a 38,929 square foot modular building Ramtech previously constructed for DIA in 2018. The new addition will extend east toward the flightline and provide five additional gates for Frontier Airlines.

The concourse building is being built as a co-op effort with other local contractors under a joint venture project between Turner Construction and Flatiron Construction. Ramtech is responsible for the core and shell construction including the exterior walls, interior walls with applied gypsum board, all shear walls, complete floor and roof assemblies, and the exterior wall and floor penetrations for the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.

The modular building is being set on an engineered concrete block pier foundation system and has been designed to meet a 160-mph enhanced windspeed. Ramtech worked with HNTB Corporation in a design-assist role for developing the Type-IIb modular structure. The installation phase is expected to be complete by the end of November. Denver International Airport will use the new modular-built terminal for a minimum of five years while they continue to develop their permanent expansion plans.

Ramtech Estimator Victor Montano

Ramtech has added to our development team by welcoming industry veteran Victor Montano to serve in our estimating department. Victor brings to Ramtech a broad background in project estimating and in the managing of vendor relationships for the development of complex projects for a wide variety of industrial and commercial modular building applications. His previous work experience includes working with architects to develop new construction sectors, and in management and leadership roles in rapidly growing environments. Victor holds an AAS degree in construction management and is also CompTIA A+ certified.

Victor joins Ramtech at a pivotal time for us as we seek to grow both our traditional relocatable modular and slab-on-grade permanent modular construction business. In publicly welcoming Victor, Ramtech President Matt Slataper stated, “Victor’s experience has prepared him to add immediate value to our Estimating Department by coordinating between our sales and design teams, and as a primary liaison with our subcontractors, suppliers, and design partners to help us deliver the highest quality modular building solutions to our customers. We are thrilled to have Victor join the Ramtech team and we’re excited to see what the future holds as he develops into a key thought-leader within our organization.”

It’s always a great day for baseball. On Wednesday afternoon our RBS and RMD team members headed out from work early and were treated to a matinee game to see the Texas Rangers take on the Boston Red Sox at Globe Life Field in Arlington. And boy the Rangers didn’t disappoint. After falling behind by four runs early their bats came alive and erupted for 15 runs on 16 hits while going yard four times.

The energetic Ramtech group took in all the action with a block of seats in Section 102 at the ballpark, enjoying company provided tickets, parking passes, and concession vouchers. Thanks to all who attended to make this corporate outing such a great event.
