Recently, Ramtech Building Systems celebrated a major milestone: we manufactured our 16,000th modular building section. Founded in 1982 as a trailer leasing company that purchased modular buildings from wholesale manufacturers, Ramtech opened its own manufacturing facility in Mansfield, Texas in 1985. It has since manufactured both temporary and permanent modular buildings for commercial, industrial, educational, medical, and government applications. (more…)
For over 30 years Ramtech Building Systems has not only acted as a design-build construction company for education, healthcare, commercial, and government applications, we also regularly team with outside architectural firms by acting in various roles depending upon the project delivery method that is being utilized. While there is no perfect building system or contractual approach, more architectural firms are now discovering the benefits of working with Ramtech and our Accelerated Building System permanent modular construction method in order to meet their client’s needs. Ramtech’s potential role when working with an outside architectural firm can include design assist, the modular building fabrication only, or full site development along with the building installation and interior/exterior finish-out. In each case, the primary benefit of working with Ramtech is this – we’re faster and less expensive.
The following projects are a sample of how we have worked with architect firms under different building and contract scenarios:
Architect of Record: The Ameritex Studio
Owner: St.Joseph Regional Health
Project: 6,400 sf. urgent care facility
Ramtech’s role: Design assist, modular fabrication
Contractual Approach: CM
Construction Manager: Vaughn Construction
With our GSA contract now in hand, Ramtech has now become eligible to provide the same modular construction products through the Texas Procurement and Support Services (TPASS) Texas Multiple Award Schedule (TXMAS) state purchasing program. Beginning this month, all of our GSA Schedule 56 offerings including standard floor plans for education, medical, and commercial modular buildings will be advertised and available to Texas state agencies through our TXMAS landing page at www.ramtechgsa.com/txmas. Ramtech will be listing our products using the same four Special Item Number (SIN) classifications as the GSA Schedule for our standard one, two, and four doctor modular clinics, toilet trailer facilities, portable classrooms, and administrative office complex designs.
The TPASS has established an alternative purchasing method through the use of TXMAS contracts that have been developed from similar contracts awarded by the federal government or any other governmental entity of another state. Like the GSA Schedules program, TXMAS has a large variety of products at pre-negotiated or “most favored customer” (MFC) pricing, available from select government-approved companies. Government contracting officers determine whether prices are fair and reasonable by completing a comparison of price and non-price factors that a company offers the government with those that are offered to commercial customers. Government buyers are then able to make purchases knowing that the GSA has managed the entire process and all the associated legal obligations that go with it. TXMAS contracts take advantage of this MFC pricing and under certain circumstances, an agency or local government entity may negotiate a lower price for the goods or services offered on a schedule contract. Then, a “best value” purchase can be made by following the normal TXMAS purchasing procedures.

These projects range in size from $250,000 to over $50 million and include office space, workforce housing for the oil & gas industry, medical facilities, data centers, school campuses, and specialty buildings. While most are in the Southwestern United States, Ramtech has completed projects from California to Maryland and in overseas locations like the U. S. Virgin Islands. (more…)
Recently, we wanted to learn what factors most influence a commercial, government, or institutional customer during challenging economic times. To do so, we called 20 of our previous customers to learn what was most important to them when they made their choice of a contractor on their commercial construction project. The group included schools, healthcare providers, and other commercial and government customers with projects that Ramtech completed within the first six months of 2011. These projects included both permanent and temporary modular buildings of various sizes and complexities. The responses generally revolved around the following areas in order of priority: (more…)
