PERMANENT MODULAR CONSTRUCTION - SLAB ON GRADE

Ramtech's Permanent Modular Construction Slab on Grade combines the best of both onsite and offsite construction by bringing together the speed and efficiency of prefabricated buildings with the quality and appearance of site applied interior and exterior finishes. We achieve this by employing simultaneous construction tracks. At the same time a site-specific, engineered reinforced concrete slab-on-grade foundation is constructed on the building site, the fabrication of the building sections are taking place in our manufacturing plant.

When complete, the building sections are then shipped to the project location, crane set onto the concrete slab, then quickly weathered-in and finished out. This form of design-build permanent construction results in a superior facility with lower overall design and construction costs and an accelerated project time frame.

The entire Slab-on-Grade construction process provides for:

  • A 10-25% reduction in design and construction costs
  • Shortened construction timelines of 25-40%
  • Substantially less site disruption than other methods
  • Buildings that use Type II (steel) and Type V (wood) construction

The general construction industry is rapidly recognizing the benefits of integrating site construction techniques with prefabricated offsite construction. By combining these other structural systems together with Ramtech's accelerated building system process, the flexibility of the types of projects that can be performed is greatly expanded without sacrificing the speed and cost advantages inherent in prefabricated construction.

HYBRID CONSTRUCTION

Ramtech also has the ability to integrate our prefabricated Accelerated Building System process with other site-construction alternatives such as pre-engineered steel buildings or concrete-tilt wall construction. This hybrid construction approach provides the ability to meet additional requirements that cannot be met by exclusively using a prefabricated building. These include facilities which require spans beyond 80 feet or have heavy internal structural loading, the ability to meet certain types of fire rating codes, or buildings with large eve heights that incorporate more architecturally diverse exteriors.

Used together, Ramtech's hybrid construction approach provides you with:
  • Options for developing larger mixed-use facilities
  • A 10-25% reduction in design and construction costs
  • Shortened construction timelines of 25-40% over traditional methods
  • Substantially less site disruption than other methods A greener construction approach to the project

SUSTAINABLE BUILDING CONSTRUCTION

Ramtech's Permanent Modular Construction Slab-on-Grade approach can incorporate a number of sustainable features into a commercial building's design and construction. Our process is recognized for substantially reducing materials waste and improving air quality by utilizing a factory-controlled manufacturing environment that segregates the building materials from the exposure to inclement weather. The use of a simultaneous offsite and on-site construction process also minimizes the disturbances to the environment by reducing the number of vehicles and equipment that are required at the building site. Other sustainable features that can be incorporated into a prefabricated building's design include white reflective TPO roofs that reduce the heat island effect, water use reduction strategies for lavatories, and an optimized energy performance that builds on the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code. Ramtech has constructed several LEED Silver Certified single and multistory prefabricated buildings ranging in size from 14,000 to 120,000 square feet.

RAMTECH'S PERMANENT CONSTRUCTION FOR EDUCATION

Video presentation explaining Ramtech's Accelerated Building System prefabricated construction process.

The ABS method combines the best of off-site prefabrication and on-site construction techniques in order to produce a building faster and with less costs, but identical in the look, functionality and life expectancy of a completely site-built structure. Ramtech accomplishes this by setting factory assembled modular sections complete with attached ceilings and walls - but no floors - directly onto a conventional concrete slab foundation. This allows the concrete slab to become the floor of the structure just like a site-built building. We then site-apply all of the exterior and interior finishes, enabling us to provide facilities faster and with less design and construction costs than site-built construction methods.
