Permanent Modular Construction for Assisted Living Facilities

It’s a fact…America’s baby boomers are getting older.   In 2010, it was estimated that 40 million Americans, 13% of the population, were 65 years of age or older.  By the year 2050, this number is expected to grow to 88 million Americans, over 20% of America’s population.

As Americans age, the need is growing for additional facilities that can meet the needs of:

  • Healthy adults that want a secure, living environment that has the feel of a nice apartment
  • Adults that need help with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing and dining
  • Adults with mental health conditions such as Alzheimer’s

Assisted living is often viewed as the best of both worlds. Residents have as much independence as they want with the knowledge that personal care and support services are available if they need them.

Assisted living facilities are one of the fastest growing areas of commercial construction.   Developers are looking for a means to provide high quality facilities faster, and at a lower price.   The answer for a number of developers is permanent modular construction.  When permanent modular buildings are used for single or multi-story assisted living facilities, they can utilize either type 5 wood or type 2 non-combustible steel and concrete construction. Ramtech is a commercial modular manufacturing and construction company that for over 30 years has provided high quality permanent modular construction for the education, medical, commercial, and governmental communities.  Our proprietary Accelerated Building System (ABS) utilizes a slab-on-grade concrete foundation in the construction of permanent facilities.  ABS is faster, less expensive, and provides a higher quality building and a safer jobsite than site construction.

While assisted living is becoming more prevalent by providing an aging America with more options dictated by the individual’s needs, developers are finding that Ramtech’s permanent modular construction is the ideal approach to building new facilities.
